Description

Please join Academy Award nominated director & animator Aaron Blaise ("The Lion King", "Brother Bear", "Aladdin") for two full days of lectures, demos & live instruction. Spots are limited!

Day 1:
On Day 1 we will be in the studio and he will be teaching his approach to Animal Drawing & Anatomy in a live, interactive format. He will begin with an overview lecture and then we will dive into drawing together.

  • Birds, Big Cats, Bears & More

  • Animal Locomotion!

Day 2:

On the second day we will take what we have learned and apply it to drawing live animals at the Herberstein Zoo! (Bus Transportation is Provided)

 

Bring your drawing tools and draw alongside Aaron as he teaches you to observe live animals. He will demo his approach to capturing their energy & spirit as they move around in front of you. You will put everything you have learned into practice.

 

We will be drawing Lions, Cheetahs, Monkeys & More. Plus, Aaron will be there to provide feedback & answer any questions you may have.

Material List

Traditional:

You may work with pencils, markers or watercolour. Your equipment needs to be portable and safe for drawing outdoors. 

​

Digital:

Portable drawing tablet and pen like an iPad. 

​

​

You may bring foldable stools to the zoo.

We recommend sunscreen, hats and jackets.

About the Instructor

For 21 years Aaron worked with Disney helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made. During that time he worked as an animator or supervising animator on "The Rescuers Down Under", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", "Pocahontas", "Mulan" and more. In 2003 he was co-director of "Brother Bear" for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. 

 

After "Brother Bear" he helped to develop several projects but ultimately left Disney to pursue an opportunity back home in Florida. Aaron recently served as 2D Animation Supervisor and Character Designer for "The Bear and the Hare" , an advertisement loved by millions around the world. He is currently also working on a new animated short film, once again involving bears called "Snow Bear". 

 

He is the founder of CreatureArtTeacher.com & it is their mission to provide high-quality art education that is affordable for everyone!

    • classroom: not mandatory​

    • bus: mandatory

    • zoo: mandatory indoors
